Stoneware Collection

Question:
Hi there! I have 3 Red Wing crocks. I know they are Red Wing they all have the logo stamped on them. I have a 30gal and 2, 15gallons. The 30 has a hairline crack about a foot long on the side(not going through any stamps or writing)and a patent 1915 on it. One of the 15gal is also 1915 same Red Wing on the front and same year..1915. these both have handles. the 15 has no cracks. The OTHER 15 has no date but does have the Red Wing union stoneware co stamp. Instead of the red wing it has blue leaves on it..this one is in mint cond no cracks/chips at all and no handles.

I was wondering if you could tell me about these and maybe a rough estimate of when the one with no date may have been made?? I dont think there could have been a date because everything else is perfect so I would be able to see even if it was worn off. They have been in my family a long time im not looking for prices to sell them or anything, I’m keeping them in the family, just curious is all! Thank you for your time! Thanks Jen

Red Wing 5 Gallon & Western 6 Gallon

Question:
Good Day! My mother has a crock with a white finish. It has bails with black wooden handles. The information stenciled on it is: Redwing Potteries 5 (I assume meaning 5 gallon) [An image of a red wing] Patented Dec 21, 1915 (this appears up near the lip of the crock)

She also has another crock: The name Western Stoneware Co. is stencilled inside an image of a maple leaf. It has a 6 on it. It does not have bails or handles, but also has the standard white finish. Do you think either off these items has any particular value, or are they "common as dirt?" Thanks for the help. Linda Murken

Utah Advertising Stoneware

Question:
I have several Red Wing made stoneware crocks and jugs with Utah advertising on them. I collect Utah advertising stoneware and Utah bottles, but my favorites are those screw top pieces with the Utah advertising.

I have three quart pieces with blue stencil from Bountiful, Sandy, and Kaysville Utah. They look great together. I also have a nice 12 gal. with the Bountiful advertising and a 1/2 gal. jug from the Louisville liquor Co. in Salt Lake. On the screw top pieces. I think my Kaysville and the Sandy are the only ones known with two of the quart Bountiful ones known and one whole and one glued together in the 1/2 gal. Bountiful. I know of one quart piece from Tremonton and a 1/2 gal. from Farmington. I would like to put them all together on my shelf. The 12 gal. Bountiful is the largest advertising crock known from Utah and was my wife’s grandmothers crock. The last one I bought, I am paying $2,500 for. Do you think that is about right for the piece. I know I would have to pay that much for the Farmington and possibly more for the Tremonton. Thank you David Emett

3 Gallon large wing shoulder jug

Question:
I am interested in purchasing a 3 gallon Red Wing jug that was posted on a website. I would like to make a fair offer, but I am not sure of the value. I also want to avoid paying more than I should for the piece, if the Seller were to come back with a counter offer. Could you give me an estimated value of the jug? The Seller has described it is "in near perfect condition", I have attached a picture. Thank you.

3 Gallon Red Wing Crock

Question:
My son has a 3 gal. crock with a Red Wing on it and the oval at the bottom with the Red Wing info. in it, in perfect condition. He recently moved and the movers broke it. They are willing to pay him for it. Could you give me a figure as to how much it may be worth? The above is all that I know about it. He received it from his grandmother so it is quite old.
