Question:
Hi, I was wondering what you could tell me about this crock. That’s dirt on it (haven’t cleaned it yet). No chips or cracks. The only markings are the ones you see in the photo. Thanks

Answer: You have a 10 gallon Red Wing Ice Water with a hexagon bung hole. These Ice Waters were produced after the salt glaze coolers (beginning around 1895) and before the water coolers (about 1915). This looks like a very striking piece if cleaned up. Cleaned up and finding no chips, cracks or hairlines, I would place a value on this piece of $1500 to $1800. However, any damage will reduce its value. Gotta luv it!!!!!! Al Kohlman
