Hot Water Bottle

Question:
Brown glaze thermos with original metal lid connected to handles by a chain. Perhaps designed for field workers? It is about a foot high. It is marked in black letters "Red Wing Union Ware." It is in near perfect condition with only a few galze pops at firing. Ever seen one like this? I has the birch leaf in relief on the top and bottem of the jug/bottle.

Turkey Droppings

Question:
We acquired this crock at auction, and was told by the auctioneer, afterward, that the glob of syrupy looking stuff under the glaze was called a "turkey dropping", and happened during the glazing process, and we sure were lucky to get that one. What’s the poop on this story? Is the "luck" real? Or is it all TS? (not bs, ts!) We don’t think we were fibbed to, but we lean toward skepticism with regard to any "luck" that comes our way at auctions. It’s really a great piece, though. We say "What a crock!" Thanks for your help. This info. site is outstanding!

6 Gallon, 4 inch Wing Churn

Question:
I have an 8 gallon Red Wing butter churn without the lid which I would like to sell. It is marked with the blue number 8 and below that a red wing measuring 4" across. Below that is an oval stamp which reads Red Wing, Union Stoneware Co. Red Wing, Minn. There is a tight hairline crack on the rim just above the number 8. This churn measures 19 and 3/4 " in height. If you can give me a value I would very much appreciate it. Thank you!

3 Gallon apple sauce jar

Question:
I just inherited this piece and am wondering if it really is Red Wing. It seems to have the appropriate markings on the front, but there is nothing denoting a date under the handle and I can’t see any visible marks on the bottom (it is discolored on the bottom. Also, is this an original lid? If Red Wing, what was this piece used for? It is in good shape, just having one chip on the glaze on the side, less than 1/2" in diameter. Can you also tell me an approximate value? Thanks. Colleen
