Gypsy Trail Hostess War, Cobalt Pitcher
Question:
Hi, I have had this cobalt pitcher for a very long time. Red-Wing 251 U.S.A is written into the clay. The base is 4" across, from spout to handle, 12", 3 1/4" x 3 1/2". Under the curves handle are ridges. I suppose for an easy hold of the pot. The pot is flawless, no crackling, chips, anything! The only flaw, if it is a flaw, was in firing, there is a little white on the handle, where not enough cobalt was applied. Thank you for all your assistance! I can’t beleive I found you, as I had searched high and low for a resource. Thank you again! Jan

Brushware Vase #133
Question:
I have what appears to be a Red Wing Brushed Ware urn/vase. It is 11" tall with an opening of about 4.25". It is stamped on the bottom with a circular stamp which reads Red Wing Stoneware Co. Red Wing, Minn and is also stamped (into the clay) with the number 10. It has a dark green, glossy interior and a green over tan exterior. It has a floral pattern on it. As far as damage or wear, there are a few small chips along the bottom edge and what appears to be small spots/drips of a metallic silver paint. Thank you Shannon

20 Gallon Birch Leave Crock with Koverwate and Lid
Question:
I have a Red Wing piece that on the front of it has a 20, four leaves, and beneath that inside of an oval the words Union Stoneware Company, Red Wing, Minnesota. It has no cracks and appears to me to be in perfect condition. It has curved handles on the sides that are actually part of the crock. I also have a round press that fits inside the crock that has the number 20 on it in blue curvy numbers and it has 1/2" holes in the bottom and on the sides. On one side of the press, inside of a box outlined in blue it says in blue lettering, "Koverwate – Use it when packing your meats Kraut Pickles and other foods put up in brine. It will save spoilage. Red Wing Union Stoneware Co., Red Wing, Minnesota." The press has no cracks or chips and appears to be in perfect condition. The crock also has a round lid with a petal design on the top and a handle knob in the center that has a 20 on it. The lid has no markings on it to indicate that it’s Red Wing but it fits the crock perfectly. The lid has one very small chip in it on the inside lip. I didn’t realize there were different types of glazes until I started reading your website so I am unsure what type of glaze it has. I am interested to know anything you can tell me about this piece, including its estimated value. If you need photos, let me know, and I will try to provide them. Thank you for your help. Vicki

Red Wing Collection
Question:
I am collecting Red Wing Crocks patented 1915 with a blue stamp and a large red wing, both with bail handles and with no handles. I was curious as to what all of the sizes are, so that I can complete my set. Did they make crocks of this type with bail handles under 4 gallons? Did they make a 7, 9, 11, 13, 14 gallon crocks? After 15 gallons does it only go up in 5 gallon increments? Also, the one gallon crock, was that made with a number one on it or only with the wing? I keep getting different answers from dealers, and so was curious what an actual expert had to say. Thank you for your time and consideration. Jaclyn
