5 gallon salt glaze albany slip liner
Question:
I bought this unmarked stoneware crock at an estate sale, along with several pieces of marked Red Wing items. In trying to research this piece, I read that most of the early salt-glazed Red Wing crocks weren’t marked. With the obvious exception of design and size, my crock looks very similar in color and style to the 3 gallon crock on page 19 of Warman’s Red Wing Pottery Identification and Price Guide published in 2005. Would you please tell me if you think this is in fact Red Wing?

It also has a lid. It has no handles. Just a few chips on the bottom, and a few under the lid. I would love to keep it forever, but was just wondering how much it may be worth.

3 gallon salt galt crock
Question:
Can you help me find who the maker of this crock is? If you look closely, and have an imagination, the letters could be sauerkraut. There are no other marks on this crock other than the blue colbalt. I also researched Clay Giants. The author believes the potter’s name was August Sandberg. The letters look more like S&K to me. Regardless, if this person did make the crock, is it possible there would be a picture of the person who made it in some type of documentation? Any info would be helpful Best regards, Kim
