Question:
I have an original Red Wing 20 gallon crock, my grandma made pickles in it, and it sat in our cave forever. It has blue 20 and red red wing underneath, and the red wing Mani info. underneath. It also has a lid. It has no handles. Just a few chips on the bottom, and a few under the lid. I would love to keep it forever, but was just wondering how much it may be worth.

Answer: If I had a photo of both the crock and lid I could better help you out. But for a ball park value, your 20 gallon Red Wing crock without handles should have a 6 inch wing & large oval. This will increase it’s value as it is an early zinc glaze piece. The chips however will hurt it’s value some. I would place a value of $125 to $175 on the crock depending on how big the chips. The lid with the chips underneath would have a value of $150 to $200. Again depending on how large the chips and also how creamy white the lid. If the lid has a brown tint to it’s top then the value would be lower. Hope this is of some help. Al Kohlman
