Red Wing 444 planter, Fleck Nile Blue

Question:
My mother-in-law just gave me a Red Wing planter or maybe it’s a vase. It is a beautiful light blue/green swan with very tiny black flecks in the shiney finish. The feathers are all VERY detailed. No scratches or chips. It is about 9 inches tall by 11 inches long. It says 444 / RED WING/U S A on the bottom. I don’t know how to submit a photo, but if you need one, I’ll try and get some help. It must be many years old because it belonged to my husband’s grandmother’s family. Thank you Patti

Answer: Hi Patty

No pic necessary, thanks. This particular form was done for many years, the original number was 260. In 1955, the number changed to 444, so yours is from that year. The glaze is called Fleck Nile Blue. There is also a smaller 6" version. Value for the 444 is around 70.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose

Answer: Hi Lucas

It’s real hard to say if Red Wing made these or not, if they aren’t marked. Another company made the exact same form. They date to around 1930, a very popular flower pot. Value is around 80.00 for the perfect one, half that for the other. thanks, steve n rose
