Hello Al, We recently picked up a 4 gallon jug at a local antique shop. The people mentioned that it was a bee sting pattern by Red Wing. Can you tell us if this is indeed the case and what the value might be? It does have, in the top of the jug, a defect that had to have been done during the manufacturing process. I have two Red Wing figurines. They are the hand painted Oriental male and female. The model # on the male is B1389 and the female is not marked. The female is 9 1/2 inches in height. Could you tell me the female’s model # and the $ value of each. As you can see from the photos,the male’s head has been detached. Thank you for your time! Mark

These were designed by Belle Kogan, circa 1951. The male is shape 1398. These handpainted ones are worth more than the solid glazed. Value around 175.00 each, in perfect condition.

Hi, I came across a large jug but did not take any pictures, sorry. the handle was broken and glued back together,but it looked quite old.
I will go back tomorrow and try to get the initials and date of manufacture and a photo.
would the broken handle render it worthless???

I have located a bird bath. The owner of the store has it marked as RW. I do not have a picture to submit, but am interested in knowing what markings to look for and design options. She also had a flower pot (the kind that are placed in cemetaries) She also indicated this was RW, but I am thinking not. It has a USA on the bottom…do not believe RW ever did that? Maybe I am wrong. Any help you can give me would be great. Thanks. Carol

most red wing birdbaths will have a rod running thru the bowl and pedistal, in the form of a branch. There are a couple that are a solid piece. Most will also be marked with an ink stamp, as well. There are several different shapes, which I really can’t describe very well. If you can find the Reiss books, there are pictures of several birdbaths there.
second, red wing did mark items USA, but not till around 1940. I think the brushed ware items, bird baths- cemetary urns weren’t produced that late, so I doubt it is a red wing item. hope this helps, thanks, steve n rose
