8 gallon birch leaf churn with button lid
Question:
Hello, I recently inherited a Red Wing birch leaf churn from my mother and with it she had an email received by one Steve L. from the RWCS in 2002 explaining the piece and its potential value. She contacted him through redwingnet.com. I have quoted the original email and am curious to know if this information is correct and the value of the piece today.
"You have an 8 gallon birch leaf churn. They were made with lids that have the hole in them and also with a cover with no hole. It is possible that the lid you have is not a Red Wing lid. The churn is worth quite a bit. In perfect condition it is worth $1800-2000 or more. Steve L."
I do not have the lid with the hole, but I believe the lid I have to be genuine Red Wing based upon its qualities in relation to the churn. It stands approx. 20" and appears to be in great condition. I see no visible cracks. Thank you very much for any assistance you can provide. Furthermore I would be interested to know any recommendations of collectors or dealers in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area if one does know, because I have quite a few other misc. pieces. Thanks Joe

10 gallon self draining jar
Question:
hello, i have a no. 10 redwing self-draining jar and would like to know the approximent value of it. i do not know how to do pictures. i’ve collected "junk" all my life and the time has come for me to get rid of a lot of it. this is, i think, the only redwing piece i have. it is, i would say, real good condition. no cracks or chips. the only thing i can see wrong is it does not have the wooden handles, if it ever had them, on the wire bales. not knowing how to do pictures the only way i would know how would be take a picture with a camera and have it developed and send it to you. being old i haven’t learned all this new modern stuff. thanks for any information you can or will give me. wendell
