Question:
Hello Al, We recently picked up a 4 gallon jug at a local antique shop. The people mentioned that it was a bee sting pattern by Red Wing. Can you tell us if this is indeed the case and what the value might be? It does have, in the top of the jug, a defect that had to have been done during the manufacturing process. We tried to include a picture of this. Everything else is perfect. Thanks for you help Kim and Adam

 

Answer: One does not see a salt glazed shoulder jug very often. This jug could be Red Wing. The particular decoration is sometimes referred to as a “drop 8” or “lazy 8”.    Value estimate is between $400 and $500.
