Salad Bowl with rose designs and green glaze

Question:
I was wondering if this piece was truly a Red Wing piece.

I bought it at an auction and they claimed it was early art pottery and "booked for $400" It is 3.5" tall 11" wide.

Can you tell me if it is or not and if so a little more about it? Thanks William Michalko Rochester, MN

Answer: Hi William

yes, it is a red wing item, from the mid 40′s. It’s actually called a salad bowl, with a rose design. Done in cold paint, the decoration will wear off, it’s not under glaze. Value is around 50.00 or so. There is a cookie jar and munch jar that match this. thanks, steve n rose

4 gallon crock and 5 gallon jug

Question:
I have two nice RedWing vessels. One is a 4 gal crock with handles. The other is a 5 gallon jug. Both have no cracks or chips. Both only have the number and the Red Wing on the sides. They both have a smooth glaze. I do not have a picture to send but they are both in very good condition. Any idea you can provide will help me decide if I should keep them in the family or sell them. Thank you. Phillip

Albany Slip Jug – Bros. Akron, OH

Question:
Hi Al, Here is a close up of the handle on my large Albany slip jug. (The last picture I sent wasn’t very helpful with identification!) The smaller jug I have is almost identical. I was able to make out some of the raised writing around the top of the jug. It looks like "Bros. Akron, OH." and some numbers. I can’t make out the name before Bros. but I’m assuming the reference to a company in Ohio rules out Red Wing. Sandy

Blossom Time pattern, concord shape yellow pieces

Question:
I am pretty sure that my pattern is called Blossom Time, but what I am not sure of is that it is yellow. The only Blossom Time I can find when I do research is in Green. The Yellow is bright and cheery and consistant with all the pieces with the set. I have teacups too with the yellow color on the outside and the Blossom Time Pattern on the inside, I have sugar bowls and creamers, ect.. At first I wondered if the lids and bottoms got mixed with another set but I really don’t believe it to be the case since I have so many peices with the yellow. Could you tell me if Yellow is just a variation of this pattern or if I have identified the pattern wrong all together. Thanks so much! Debbie

3 gallon salt glaze jar

Question:
I have included a couple of pictures of a crock that belongs to my mom. She bought it 42 years ago in Bloomington, Indiana at an antique store. She says it was "old" when she purchased it. We think it might have the "bee sting" decoration on the front but other than that we are clueless. We would love to know more about this interesting piece of pottery, including what you think it might be worth. Thank you for your time. Susan

PS – there are no imprints or manufacturers marks on it as far as we can see.
