6 gallon large wing and 4 gallon birch leaf crocks with lids
Question:
I have three Red Wing Jugs that I got when my sister-in-law passed away. I think they are Red Wing Jugs, the one with the 6 has patented 1915 and other markings. It has no hair line fractures or anything wrong with it. The lid however has a chip underneath it that can not be seen. The only markings the other Jugs have are the ones you can see. White Rose Rye Whiskey Jug by the PJ Bowling Liquor Co.St. Paul Minn.
Question:
Hi, I was wondering if you could help me in my research about a pottery jug I picked up at an estate sale. From what little I could find my White Rose Rye Whiskey jug made by the P.J. Bowling Liquor Co. in St. Paul. Minn is made by the manufacturer who later became known as Red Wing. It is a little over 6" tall to the tip of the jug itself. There are a couple of cracks right above the lowest blue decorative band, but to me it looks like something that is more in the finish than something that goes all the way through. Do you have any idea of the history of this piece and the value? Thank you for your help! Sincerely, Cindy Johnston
