Giraffee Planter – hobby shop
Question:
Hello, I was looking to confim that this is a Charles Murphy #896 planter.. Not signed But there is 3 letters on bottom (REE)? Is this orange glaze RARE? Chris
Answer: Hi Chris
this is the Murphy giraffe planter, but it’s a hobby shop item, not done by Red Wing. Molds were used by other people after the factory closed, this is one of those items. The glaze wasn’t used by Red Wing. Value maybe around 30.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose
4 gallon lazy 8 crock
Question:
I just purchased a crock at an estate auction. After I won the man I was bidding against me asked if I knew anything about it. I didn’t other than I liked it. He told me it was a Red Wing Crock. I cannot find the mark online so I hope you can help me with age. It is 11 inches tall and the opening is about 10 3/4 inches. The handles are amazing and I love the brown glaze on the inside. The bottom isn’t marked but it’s concave. I heard someone mention that at the auction and they said it wasn’t Red Wing. I love it no matter what, but if I knew it’s history that would be welcomed information. Thank you! Kathryn

Question:
I have a 3 gallon salt glazed lid. I’m not sure if you can see it in the photo but it has a 3 on it and the daisy. As you can see it has a couple of issues but they are seem to be factory flaws. There are no chips or cracks on the underside but it has a factory flaw in it there as well. Any idea of value? – Thanks Jean
