Question:
I just purchased a crock at an estate auction. After I won the man I was bidding against me asked if I knew anything about it. I didn’t other than I liked it. He told me it was a Red Wing Crock. I cannot find the mark online so I hope you can help me with age. It is 11 inches tall and the opening is about 10 3/4 inches. The handles are amazing and I love the brown glaze on the inside. The bottom isn’t marked but it’s concave. I heard someone mention that at the auction and they said it wasn’t Red Wing. I love it no matter what, but if I knew it’s history that would be welcomed information. Thank you! Kathryn

Answer: Kathryn, your 4 gallon salt glazed crock is not Red Wing. I don’t know which pottery produced it, so I am of little help on it’s history. Al Kohlman
