Red Wing Christmas Tree Stand

Question:
A customer brought a blue/green ceramic or earthenware Christmas Tree Stand into my consignment store today. He contends that is a Red Wing pottery item of some value. It has no makings of any sort. I’ve checked several websites without finding anything similar and no reference for Red Wing making this item. Any info on this item will be greatly appreciated.

10 gallon Water Cooler

Question:
Recently I came across a piece of Red Wing Pottery in southern Indiana. It is a 10-gallon water cooler with the Red Wing symbol on the front of it. The stamp very clearly says "Red Wing Union Stoneware" which leads me to believe it was made sometime between 1906 and 1936. The original spout and handles are still on the piece as well as the original lid. It is in excellent condition with only a few very minor chips on the inside of the lid. Can you give me an estimate on this piece? Kim

20, 15 and 10 Gallon Crocks

Question:
I’ve got a 20 gal crock with lid, a 15 gallon with lid, and a 10 gal-no lid. The 2 bigger ones have the "Red Wing", big blue number, & the oval that says: Red Wing Union Stoneware Co.Red Wing Mn. There also a blue stamp on all three reads: "patented Dec 21, 1915". What should I do with them? Pass them onto my children because they belonged to my Grandfather or sell? What might they be worth? The 20 & 15 have no cracks, the 10gal does have a crack but does not leak. Thanks for the help

10 & 20 Gallon Crocks

Question:
I’ve got some big crocks two with lids. A 10 gallon, a 20 gallon. How do I figure out how old? Yes they are stamped Red Wing. How do I figure out what they are worth. My father’s father used them for saurkraut, so they are at least from 1920-1930.

Stoneware glazing and production

Question:
Hi, I’m doing a master in translation and I have to do a terminology investigation in a specialized domain. I choose pottery making. I have done lots of research about the specialized terms but the proper meaning of some of them are still unclear. I know it is not the kind of answer you usually answer but I thought I would better understand if I asking experts in pottery.

1)When you add slip to a clay object at the leather-hard stage, is the object then called slipware or does it have to be fired to be called slipware? 2) Can a ceramic be bisqueware and earthenware at the same time? 3) Can a ceramic be bisqueware and stoneware at the same time? 4) Can a earthenware pottery go through the second firing, the glaze firing? If yes, is the glaze firing done at the same temperature for earthenware and stoneware? Sorry for asking so many questions at the same time. Many many thanks!!!!! Sarah
