Question:
I’ve got a 20 gal crock with lid, a 15 gallon with lid, and a 10 gal-no lid. The 2 bigger ones have the "Red Wing", big blue number, & the oval that says: Red Wing Union Stoneware Co.Red Wing Mn. There also a blue stamp on all three reads: "patented Dec 21, 1915". What should I do with them? Pass them onto my children because they belonged to my Grandfather or sell? What might they be worth? The 20 & 15 have no cracks, the 10gal does have a crack but does not leak. Thanks for the help
Answer: Being a collector and loving family heirlooms, I would pass them on to my children if they were interested in them. The 20 gallon and 15 gallon Red Wing crocks with lids in perfect condition (no cracks or chips) have a value in the area of $300 each. The 10 gallon with the crack (a crack is a crack among collectors even if it holds water) would be in the $30 to $35 range. Al Kohlman
