I’m curious as to the worth of a piece of Red Wing crockery I picked up at a garage sale awhile back. I’m not sure, but I think it has the original handles. It is dated Dec 21, 1915 and in fair(?) shape; it has a thin crack approx. 10" long which is somewhat visible in the attached picture (if you’ll look toward the back, left side. Hi, I have a number of Red Wing pieces, but the small spongeware bowl has given me the most difficulties in identifying, probably because it is so common that it isn’t sold on the Internet. It is a 4" high bowl with all-over the outside medium-dark blue spongeware on the tan background. The bowl looks most vertical with a flared out rim, but actually does slightly widen from 4.5" at the base to 5" just below the top, with the flared rim bringing it to just over 6" wide. There are no panels–it is mostly smooth on the outside to the top, with the inside showing slight circular bands. The bottom mark, in blue, has a central wing and the circular Red Wing Stoneware Co. around the top and Red Wing, MN around the bottom of the circle. I occasionally see bowls with red and tan sponge but not the plainer blue on tan. Is this because it is not collectible? Thanks for your enlightenment. Cathy

Can you please help me identify two stoneware items? I discovered them when helping clean out my late uncles garage. My aunt wanted to put them out with the other garbage, but said I could have them if I wanted them. After washing them I think they are beautiful. I am now a Red Wing fan. Anything you can tell me about their fabrication and history will be greatly apreciated. The crock is almost like new. No cracks or crazing, with only a few very small nicks. No maker marks on the bottom. Details: 14.875" tall 12" outside dia., at bottom Letter "6" is 1.875" tall X 1.25" wide "Wing" is 2" long X 1" high "Union Stoneware" oval is 1.75 long X 1.125 high The jug maker is unknown to me because there are no markings. Jug details: 13" tall 9" outside diameter 8.75" to shoulder 1.125 inner diameter spout I greatly look forward to hearing what you can tell me about this crock and jug. Thank You, Larry
