One Gallon Salt Glaze Brown Top Jug, Minnesota Stoneware

Question:
Hello! What can you tell me about this jug? It seems a bit unusual, possibly experimental? One gallon in size, salt glaze… the bottom portion of the jug appears to be made from a crock, as it has the typical rim of a crock. The bottom is marked MSCo… even this mark seems a bit unusual, similar to the M10 mark, but with no dots between the letters and the letters are raised, not indented. Thanks! Tim

Star Embossed Albany Slip Tea pot

Question:
Hi! I have had this piece in my collection for quite a while, but I, as yet, have not been able to identify it as Northstar/Redwing. Was wondering if you could help me out. This stoneware teapot looks to be a 2 pint and measures 6" tall with lid in place, 8.5" across from tip of spout to the handle, 3.375" across the opening and is 3.375" across the base. the clay looks to be yellowish and the design on the base is a star, 5 points. It looks like a star within a star but I am thinking it is meant to be an outline of a star., under the glaze. I have included some photos. thanks for your time. susie keena

There is a marking on the bottom but can’t make out what it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The top of the bowl has black markings that are from my grandfather using to sharping knives. Making Kraut does it damage crocks

Question:
Would you have an answer to this question? A number of my neighbors, including myself, have used Redwing crocks that predate WWII. Most of us ferment cabbage to produce sauerkraut. Because sauerkraut is acidic we began to wonder about its affect on the glazing and if it’s possible for the acid to leach lead out of the glazing? Did the old crocks have an internal glazing that contained lead? Is it dangerous to use these crocks to produce food that is acidic? Thank you. Respectfully, Eric Enberg Sr.
