Question:
Hi! I have had this piece in my collection for quite a while, but I, as yet, have not been able to identify it as Northstar/Redwing. Was wondering if you could help me out. This stoneware teapot looks to be a 2 pint and measures 6" tall with lid in place, 8.5" across from tip of spout to the handle, 3.375" across the opening and is 3.375" across the base. the clay looks to be yellowish and the design on the base is a star, 5 points. It looks like a star within a star but I am thinking it is meant to be an outline of a star., under the glaze. I have included some photos. thanks for your time. susie keena

Answer: Susie, your teapot does not look to be North Star. There were a few other mid-west stoneware companies that used a star on their ware and this most be one of them. The embossed star is not a North Star mark that I have ever seen. Al Kohlman
