Question:
I have a Red Wing crock, that I found under my house. It has a few age cracks none of which go all the way through to the inside of the crock. It has a Patented stamp in Blue with the date Dec. 21, 1915. The handles are in good condition. It also has a large 8 in blue, and a red wing on the outside. The lid is intact and in good condition as well. Can you tell me anything about it? Heidi
Answer: Heidi, without seeing a photo of your Red Wing 8 gallon crock, I can only give you a rough estimate on dates and values. Your crock was manufactured between 1915 & 1947. With the hairlines the value will be between $30 & $60 depending on how many cracks, the size of the red wing and how well marked. Now the lid if it is wood would not be original. I would need to be made out of clay and have daisy petal design around the top. If the later is the case and the lid is perfect and the same creamy white color as the crock, then the lid could be valued between $175 & $200. Hope this helps some. Al Kohlman
