Red Wing Stoneware Preserve/Snuff Jars
Question:
Hi, Thank you so much for your help on my other crocks, I really appreciate it. I ended up selling one, giving the other away and I have kept one and used the glueing technique you recommended on it. I was hoping you could help me out with two more crocks I have. I am thinking of letting one go and keeping one, not sure which one though. As you can see, they are the dame except for their finish. I don’t even know what these are called or what they are used for or if they ever had lids? I have heard maybe they were used for snuff, preserves or pickles? They are each about 8 1/2" tall and about 5′ across at the top lip. The light one has a few chips on the very bottom and a smalll hairline crack near the top that does not go through. The brown one is in very good shape and is missing a spot of glaze in one spot. Both are faintly stamped redwing on the bottom. Any help with the name, proper usage and aprox value would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again for your time. Loreen

Red Wing Bird of Paradise Collection
Question:
Hope the picture can do justice to the items. We have three pieces of pottery I suspect may be Belle Kogan and from the same set. The bowl and the vase are green with yellow inside and I think the are "Bird of Paradise".
Answer: You are correct, they are from Kogan’s tropicanna line, circa 1950. Mint green is the glaze color, and "bird of paradise" is the design. Values would be around 60.00 for all three. thanks, steve n rose
