Question:
I bought a fun Red Wing bowl that is hand painted with dancing Peasants, I believe. It says Red Wing and USA on the back. Was wondering when it was made and what it might be worth, rarity? Thank you, Shayna
Answer: Shayna, According to a July 1942 sales brochure, you have an "Incised Peasant" Salad Bowl. It is one of three items available in the Incised Peasant design. The other two are a Cookie Jar and a Munch Jar (low and squat in shape). The bowl is the only piece that is marked Red Wing. All three items were available in three colors: Brown, Green and White. Unlike most Red Wing hand painted pottery, the peasant figures were cold painted (over the glaze). Because the colors are not sealed under the glaze they are easily removed. After 60-some years many of these pieces have lost a considerable amount of their original paint . That appears to be have happened with your bowl as very little of the original paint is visible.
An Incised Peasant Salad Bowl in excellent condition and with intact original paint would be worth $25 to $40, with the white color on the low end and green on the high end. Loss of paint detracts from the value, as do any chips and cracks.

I have my grandmother’s dinner collection. Below is an inventory of the pieces. I have noted if it was makred with a red wing stamp or black series stamp. All pieces are in mint conditon besides the 3 noted below. 
Ever seen one of these before? I bought it today at the State Fair Antique Show for $8. It has a chip on the back rim about 1/4" x 1/8". No other chips, cracks or crazing. Any idea what this might be worth? Thanks, Bret
We found this dinner platter in my grandmother’s things. This is the only piece we have. We are just curious about it and it’s worth. It is undamaged and in excellent condition. It has a high gloss glaze on it. Thank you. Lee Anne
Hello, I have this Redwing plate that appears to be by David Lenling’s "Capistrano" collection with the tweed texture pattern. It has gently up-curved edges, measures 15" x 12", and has the number "125" beneath the Redwing logo. Hello, I have a blue rooster or hen casserole dish or some kind of dish stamped Red Wing U.S.A. #249. It measures approximately 9inches tall from bottom to tail feathers,10inches long from beak to tail feathers, and about 5 and 1/2 inches wide. It is in beautiful condition. There is a white spot on the tail feather and I can feel that it isn’t as smooth as the rest yet it does not appear to be scratched; more like a scuff. It almost looks like the paint and glaze missed the pottery because the blue is lighter in some of the creases of the finely detailed feathers. There is no crazing and just shines beautifully. It is a darker blue. Can you tell me about this piece? It has been difficult to find anything on this item. I purchased it at a garage sell for $2.00. Thanks for your time regarding this matter. I bought three pieces of red wing at a garage sale. I have a plate that measures 8 3/8 " across. A bowl that measures 5 1/4" and a mug that is 3 1/4" high. It looks like a clown face painted on the plate. The bottom is marked Red Wing hand painted ovenproof u.s.a. 138. I cannot find a name for this pattern anywhere. Please help. Thanks for your time.
