Question:
Hello, I have this Redwing plate that appears to be by David Lenling’s "Capistrano" collection with the tweed texture pattern. It has gently up-curved edges, measures 15" x 12", and has the number "125" beneath the Redwing logo. It is in excellent condition with no chips, scratches, etc. I would appreciate your expert appraisal of it’s value. Thank you. Richard Gopfert

Answer: The item in the photo is indeed a platter from the Capistrano pattern, one of six patterns made in the Anniversary shape. The surface is not smooth but has a crosshatch texture that reminds me of burlap. Platters were available in 13 inch and 15 inch sizes. Capistrano was the best selling Anniversary pattern and is quite easy to find today. A 15 inch Capistrano platter in excellent condition would be worth $25 to $40.
