Bean Pots – Mostly Stoneware items

Question:
Hi, I have a few items that I need an estimated price for. One is a 1 quart stone mason with black labeling with the cover. Another is a 2 quart village brown green bean pot without a cover. Next a 1/2 gallon saffron bean pot with a cover. A 1/2 gallon wide mouth tomato or fruit jug. Last a 1 quart brown and white bailed bean pot with cover. All items are in mint condition. Also if you could tell me a lot about each item that would be great. Thanks, Aimee

15 gallon red wing

Question:
Hi Al– Thanks so much for answering my previous question about my "Crown Crock." I have now acquired a 15 gallon Red Wing crock, as well as a 3 gallon churn (?). Both are in excellent condition, with nice bright markings. The 15 has original handles and the "1915" stamp. The churn has a lid (not sure if it\’s the correct one or not). The 15 gallon also has a wooden lid-type thing…not sure what it is. Any info you can give on value, etc. would be very helpful. Thanks! Stephanie

question from: buckhunter@elknet.net

Question:
I HAVE THIS TEAPOT TO SELL IN YELLOW, EXCELLENT CONDITION – BUT WANT IT TO GO TO A COLLECTOR – WE ARE HAVING AN ESTATE SALE,CONTACT ME FOR INFO. SEE NOTE FROM YOUR WEBSITE Answer: Your rooster teapot is one of many items in the Gypsy Trail Hostessware line. Gypsy Trail dinnerware was introduced in 1935 and included four patterns. During the World War II years metals were reserved for military use. To help fill the void, Red Wing introduced a wide array of accessory items that could be used alone or with any of the Gypsy Trail patterns. Your #257 rooster teapot was introduced in 1944, along with several other figural teapots. Production of the Hostessware line ended not long after the end of World War II.

The rooster teapot is not rare but examples in excellent condition can be hard to find. The cover slips off easily and thus is often missing or damaged. There are many points on the rooster (such as the beak or comb) that are easily chipped or broken. And from my collecting experience the pink color is not common. The value of this teapot in excellent condition would be $75 to $125, and perhaps a bit more to a collector who wants the pink color. Larry
