Red Wing 158 Vase

Question:
We have a 15" Red Wing vase with green glaze. It is the exact same design as the attached picture which I took from your website. It is in excellent condition…no chips or marks except for a slight crack in the glaze that does not go through the pottery. Stamped on the bottom is Red Wing Ware Number 158. We are not interested in selling but would like to know the value in case it should be insured. The vase has been in our family for 3 generations. Thank you for your help.

Answer: Hi, Nice large vase! There are three, this is the biggest. Dates to the early 30′s. Value is around 185.00. thanks, steve n rose

3 gallon Red Wing Water Cooler

Question:
We have a #3 Red Wing water cooler that is in perfect condition except for a small chip on inside of lid. It was inherited from mother of my husband who used it in her schoolroom when she was a teacher in the 1930′s. Would you have any idea what it might be worth. I do not have a picture at this time but can get one if you need it.

8 inch salt glazed North Star lid

Question:
For Al Kohlman. I am the person who asked for information on an 8" salt-glazed cover that I think is North Star. I would like to mail you a photo of it along with a copy of page 20 of David Newkirk’s book "A Guide to Red Wing Markings" which shows a shard that is identical to the top of my cover. What address can I use to mail this to you? Thanks, Dayton

3 gallon brich leaf churn

Question:
I bought this #3 birch leaf churn recently. It has its original lid and dasher. There are no chips or cracks on the churn or on the lid. There is a small area on the left side of the Union oval that the glazing has been scraped off. The size of the churn is 13 1/4" tall and 9 1/4" wide at the top rim. How old is this churn? What would be the approximate value? It also came with an old wood lid, that I was told was used when they churned butter. The top of the wood lid is bowl shaped. Thank you, Bob

6 gallon small wing with circle target

Question:
I have a question about this 6 gallon crock. The stamp is round, not oval. I’m new to Red Wing collecting (and a new member of the Society), and can only find information on the oval stamp. Is this authentic Red Wing or a reproduction of another type. Seller is asking $80, which I think it too high due to the blemishes and such. If it isn’t real Red Wing, it’s not worth it, too. Thanks! Curt
