Round Up and Chuck Wagon Collection
Question:
I have a "set" of Red Wing Pottery that I received from my mother. It’s made up of a combination of pieces from "Roundup" and "Chuck Wagon".
Including: 8 salad plates, 1 with small blemish, 1 that has been cracked and glued. The numbers are 223? chipped, 331? cracked, 213 or 218, 218, 228, 2x 319. 1 number is only half printed.
8 dinner plates in very good condition 3x 129, 5x 319.
3 serving dishes
10 cups, 1 cracked but not all the way through, I think, no numbers.
10 saucers, 2x 116, unknown, 2x probably 319 or 229, 4x 229, 319
If you send me an email I will reply with link to a folder on MyPictureTown that will have all the pictures made of the Red Wing pottery. I assume that the numbers are of the different painters that made the pieces. True? What’s the best place to sell these items? eBay? Or auction in a gallery somewhere? Can you point me to a gallery, I would guess that a gallery in MN would be best, but what do I know? Thank you very much, Max
20 gallon salt glaze with lazy 8, bee sting, marking
Question:
20 gallon salt glazed w/elephant ear handles, brown glaze inside, two lazy 8 marks, one above the other. Looks more like bees, with horizontal lines through the "wing" part. Not marked Red Wing, is it Red Wing and what would the value be. No cracks or chips. Thanks Joe
Repair Question, 10 gallon
Question:
I saw the post about singsuper glue to repair a crack. My wife has a Redwing 10 gallon crock she got from her deceased granny. I wasn’t careful and dropped a log on it causing a large 4"x4" pie shaped piece to break off the bottom. Is super glue appropriate to reattach that? Thanks, Jim
Answer: I usually apply liquid Super Glue to the crack and apply a tourniquet to the crock for 24 hours. After the glue as dried (do not wipe Super Glue when wet or you will get a white film on your piece that is very hard to remove) I use a razor blade to remove any excess. Just make sure you read the label on the glue to make sure it does not affect any food you may process in your crock. Al Kohlman
Red Wing 1157 vase
Question:
I have a vase with 1157 RED-WING U.S.A. stamped on the bottom. It’s fanned at the top and about 9 inches tall. The outside almost looks purple, but it looks as though it was a magenta color with blue on top. It’s shiny glaze as opposed to matte. The decoration on the outside almost looks like peacock feathers/eyes. Any ideas???
Answer: Hello, your vase was designed in 1942, the glaze may be coronation purple. Value is around 60.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose

Red Wing 768 pitcher, Belle Kogan 100 line
Question:
Hello! I just finished reading the article about the Red Wing Pottery Show that was in the June 24, 2009 publication of Antique Trader. What a wonderful WebSite!! I have a attached a pic of the ONLY piece of Red Wing I own. It is a handsome pitcher that I found in a thrift shop and bought for $.50. I collect lots of 50′s era ephemera and I bought it for it’s unique shape and color scheme. It is embossed "768" and "RED WING" on the underside. I would be enthralled to learn more about it!! Thanks very much!!! Lindsay Leiper, Norristown, PA
Answer: Hi Lindsay
Thanks for the compliments, we do have a well run organization, and quite large to boot! Your piece is more art pottery, than an actual dinnerware pitcher. It’s part of Belle Kogan’s 100 line, circa 1938. It is an interesting form. Value is around 75.00 or so. You made a good investment… thanks, steve n rose
