Question:
Hello, My mother gave me this large bowl that she purchased at an estate sale. It’s diameter is approximately 13" and it’s just under 6" deep. It has no decorations, there are no cracks and it seems to be in very good condition. The bottom is marked with ‘Red Wing U.S.A.’ and ’2′. Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated! Thank you
Answer: You have what is called a Red Wing milk pan. These milk pans were published in every Red Wing Stoneware catalog starting around 1906. Milk pans range is size from 4 3/4 inches to 15 1/2 inches. They are found in Blue, Brown and White, with White being the most common. However, signed bowls are much harder to come by than the unsigned ones and demand a higher value. In mint condition your bowl has a value around $80. Al Kohlman
