Im wondering if you can give me information on a piece of pottery, including value. I am including a picture. this vase (?) is 6 1/2 inch. tall. at the widest part of the base it is 6 1/2 wide. the opening at the top is 2 3/4 wide. it has a single flower with leaf pattern on both sides, the same pattern, but not exactly the same (hand done?) the inside is a high gloss glaze. on out side it is matte.in a forest green. the bottom of piece (pic. included on second email) says-Red wing union stoneware co. This crock and lid was my step fathers grandmothers. The lid appears to fit well. The crock itself is glazed with exception to the bottom. I don’t see any marks on the bottom. It has three stamps. The cobalt blue number 6, the red, Red Wing(About 4"), and the Red Wing, Union Stoneware Company, Red Wing, ????. oval, in the blue cobalt. It has an imperfection to the left of the stamps on the front, but it’s not actually a chip. It appears to just be a flaw from when it was made. There is one hairline crack in the glaze. The lid itself has 6 chips around the outer edge, and the inside of the lid looks to be in perfect condition. It has a wire handle(it may have had wood on it at one time.). It has a thick cobalt line around the top of the lid, and two thin cobalt lines that are on either side of the thick line. Below those is a thick line that appears rough, and without glaze or paint. I would like to know: Is the crock and lid an actual set? When were they produced? What condition would you say they are in? What is the approximate value of these? Hello, I have a blue rooster or hen casserole dish or some kind of dish stamped Red Wing U.S.A. #249. It measures approximately 9inches tall from bottom to tail feathers,10inches long from beak to tail feathers, and about 5 and 1/2 inches wide. It is in beautiful condition. There is a white spot on the tail feather and I can feel that it isn’t as smooth as the rest yet it does not appear to be scratched; more like a scuff. It almost looks like the paint and glaze missed the pottery because the blue is lighter in some of the creases of the finely detailed feathers. There is no crazing and just shines beautifully. It is a darker blue. Can you tell me about this piece? It has been difficult to find anything on this item. I purchased it at a garage sell for $2.00. Thanks for your time regarding this matter. i found these at a garage sale and was really wondering about the one with the brick moulding, the pitcher is clearly marked red wing and i think it’s worth about $20, both are in absolute pristine condition. Some guy tried to buy the brick mould butter crock, he said it was very rare, i have not sold it and really want to know what it is, it is not marked any where i can tell. thanks suge
I bought three pieces of red wing at a garage sale. I have a plate that measures 8 3/8 " across. A bowl that measures 5 1/4" and a mug that is 3 1/4" high. It looks like a clown face painted on the plate. The bottom is marked Red Wing hand painted ovenproof u.s.a. 138. I cannot find a name for this pattern anywhere. Please help. Thanks for your time. my boyfriend found these two,2gal crocks. one is 10 inches tall.9 1/2 inches from outter lip to lip. the other 2 gal is only 9 inches tall, 9 1/4 from outter lip to lip. we were wondering why the difference and what their value may be. the tallest one has no cracks where as the shorter one has a hair line crack in the bottom. we also have a 10 gal in great shape too.
