5 gallon Red Wing Water Cooler
Question:
I have a 5 gallon Redwing water cooler. On the front there is "5" in blue; under that there is the words "Water Cooler" in blue with blue detailing above and below them. In the middle there is the Redwing symbol in red and under that there is an oval with the words "Hudson Stoneware Co. Red Wing, Minn". The crock has three blue lines on the body; two at the top and one at the bottom. The lid has one blue line around the handle; a petal design and a wider tan line towards the edge with another thin blue line right at the edge. The lid is broken but could be repaired. The spout is intact and does work, it has the original porcelain push button but it is brass and has turned green. The crock was orginally in the train depot of the small town I grew up in and then in the school in that town. I remember it being on a stand. I have a number of questions: 1. What can you tell me about it, when was it made, how can I tell what kind of glaze it on it etc. 2. Where can I find a lid and stand for it? 3. If I cannot find a lid, what type of glue can I use to repair the original one? 4. Should I clean up the spout or leave it alone and what should I use to clean it? 5. It would be nice to know an estimate of worth, however I do not intend to sell it. Thank you for any information you can give me. Anita Olson

Brushed Ware Bulb Bowl
Question:
I have a circular, squat "bulb bowl" piece of brown Brushed Ware, glazed green on the inside, having a circular stamp: Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. Red Wing, Minn. The lower half of the outer section is decorated with what appears to be a molded rectangular repeating pattern, and above that on the upper half is a leave and berry pattern with vines connecting the leaves. I have no picture but my son can take one if you need it. Entire piece is about 3" tall, 11-12" in diameter. Thanks! Georgia
Answer: Hi Georgia
no pic necessary, thanks. It’s shape # 120, from around 1930. There are 4 sizes of this one, yours is the largest. Value is around 70.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose

Cowboy and Cowgril, light brown glaze, B1415 and B1414, Belle Kogan designer
Question:
I have two statues, one a cowboy and one a cowgirl with sort of a light brown glaze. The coyboy is marked Red Wing USA, B 1415. The cowgirl is marked Red Wing USA, B 1414. She is in perfect condition but the cowboy has been broken and repaired. Could you please tell me anything about these? I know nothing about Red Wing except the name…other than the repaired piece is greatly reduced in value. Thank you, Lana Robertson
Answer: Hi Lana
Your figurines were designed by Belle Kogan, in 1952. The solid glazed ones, like you have are worth around 100.00 each, in perfect condition. so half that or less for the broken one. They are meant to be a pair. thanks, steve n rose

Art Pottery: 1160, 426, 861, 1054, 259, and 863
Question:
I have some artware pieces I have picked up at auctions and antique stores over the years. I would like to know the value and from what line they are from. I am attaching a picture and the numbers and sizes are as follows: 1160? 23 in glad vase, 426 plate, 861 71/4, 863 and 1054? 8 in and the swan 259? is 7 in. The blue sponge 863 has a very small white spot on the lip but it doesn’t appear to be a chip just where the paint didn’t cover. Thank you very much for your time. I love Redwing and grew up near there. Kathy S
