Red Wing M1487, Charles Murphy

Question:
Red wing USA M147 mark on bottom in mold. Is this an eva zeisel piece? Donna

Answer: Hi Donna

your piece was designed by Charles Murphy, he used the "M" on some of his designs. It would date to around 1954, shape #1487. sometimes they are hard to read. Eva Zeisel didn’t design any artware that I know of for Red Wing, but she did do a dinnerware line called Town and country.

Red Wing 1510 pitcher

Question:
I have a small cream colored pitcher with light green interior and the marking of "Red Wing 1510" on the bottom. It is larger at the base tapering to the lip which is 7 inches tall. The handle is narrow, curved and 5 inches long. I suspect it was one my wife’s family had – they lived in central North Dakota. I am interested in learning if this has any value and a possible site for listing it for sale if feasible.

Answer: Hello

your pitcher was designed in 1956, and has a value of around 25.00 or so, It may be worth more as a family keepsake, than for resale. thanks, steve n rose

Red Wing 1151 vase

Question:
I have a round vase 8" tall. It is glazed in a matte teal blue. It has handles on each side that are made of loops with a larger loop above a smaller loop. The handles are also offset with one side higher and one lower. There is a raised stylized design of a deer fawn with spots, native American profile and tree branch with leaves on one side with the tree branch repeated on the reverse side. Stamped in the clay on the bottom is RED WING With the angled stroke of the R extended to underline the two words. Under those words is USA with a large 1151. Also on the bottom surface are some small dark blue numbers and a letter that look like 7517 A. Hope you’ve got some answers. Mel Snook

Answer: Hi Mel

This vase dates to around 1942, attributed to being a design by charles murphy, a Red Wing designer. I think your ink number would be a designation for it being handpainted. Value is around 95.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose
