Red WIng 847, Belle Line shape, hobbiy shop glaze

Question:
Hello. Here is my pair of rare Red Wing pottery/vases. They are stamped on the bottom Red Wing .. looks like maybe # 847. They originated from the Volo Antique Mall in IL. I am in need of an estimated value. I have more pix, but this would only allow me to attach one. Thank you. debbie

Answer: Hi Debbie

These are a Red Wing shape, part of the Belle Line circa 1964-65. The problem is the glaze, this wasn’t done by Red Wing. After the factory closed, a lot of molds were sold to various hobby shops, etc., and glazed by other people. Value on this pair is around 30.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose

Red Wing Geish Girl, shape 1365 and matching flower box

Question:
My mom passed away and left various pieces in her estate. I have two Red Wing (stamped) porcelain candle holders,in shape of Geisha girl(?), green standing on black porcelain base. They are about 9 inches tall, and on the bottom it is stamped Red Wing USA 1365. Matching these items in color, is a foot long porcelain flower box (about 4 inches wide, 4 inches deep) also Asian style, and green, marked Red Wing.

I do not want to be manipulated at an antique or home decor dealer, so I thought I’d check with you first. I do not have a digital camera yet, so cannot provide a picture. I will try to find one. Thank you so much for offering this site! Debbie

Answer: Hi Debbie

the figural candleholders date to around 1949, their value is around 90.00 each. The window box, I can’t place, without a number, but most of those sell in the 50.00 range. Hope this helps, thanks, steve n rose

Magnolia Serving dish with inside crack, repair advice

Question:
We have a Magnolia serving dish that has developed a small crack in the bottom on the inside. It does not show through on the bottom. Is there anything we can do to keep it from growing and can it be repaired easily? We recently purchased it on eBay and the crack did not show until now. The serving dish came from near Minneapolis and now resided in Las Cruces, New Mexico. (really different climate) Thank you and see you in July in Red Wing at the convention. Harley

Answer: Hi Harley

It could be repaired, but then you wouldn’t be able to use it. excessive heat could make the crack larger, (expansion). I doubt it will "grow" any larger than it already is. Maybe some epoxy could be used to fill the crack, but I’m not a repair expert. thanks, steve n rose
