Question:
I have this vase that I acquired from my grandmother and don’t know how to go about finding out where it came from. It is glazed and seems to be made out of something other than the traditional clay, more the density of some kind of concrete. It is 3-sided and has a different colored painted bird on each side. There is some kind of marking on the bottom, but can’t make them out. Jo Lynn
Answer: Hi Jo Lynn
I’m not sure what your vase is. It does look to be handmade. The american art pottery association has a website, perhaps they could help you. thanks, steve n rose

I recently inherited a Red Wing Pottery Flower Frog from my grandmother who died at age 102. The card in the box with it dates it a a wedding anniversary gift in 1941. I found a photo of it in a red wing pottery book and they call it Three Feathers. I wanted to know what the color is called and is it glazed or painted. I don’t think the photo does justice on the color, I would say it is more of a light purple blue. Also any other information you might have about it would be appreciated. Laura
I found this(fruit bowl?) in a basement of a house I am cleaning out.It has red wing usa on the bottom, so I am wondering if it has any value? The bowl is 10 inches in diameter and 3 and 1/4 inches in height. one picture shows it as oval but it is round. I would appreciate any help you can give me to decide to throw away, sell, or donate it to the society. Mike
Hello: I have a beautiful low bowl marked with the number 971 and the letter A, but nothing else. It was suggested to me it may be a Redwing piece, so I’m hoping someone can confirm or suggest my next move in this exploration. It measures 15" long, about 9.5" wide, and about 2.5" deep. It has a cream exterior and a baby blue interior, and I think a matte glaze that is smooth with a nice shine but not glossy. It has just a few use marks, and I think some crazing. I would certainly appreciate any feedback. Thank you. Betty King
Blackish, brown tropicana flowers vase 10" tall and 4 1/2 x 7" wide. Yellow glaze inside, marked B2004, no chips. Value and history???? Linda
I have a medium size vaze with the spiky metal flower holder inside. (not sure what that’s called!) It is oval shaped, aprox. 10" long by 5" wide, 3 1/4 " deep. It’s in very good condition, no chips or wear. The glaze is a charcoal black. On the bottom is stamped: Redwing USA 1479 I was given this piece as a gift and am curious about it’s time period and it’s value. Thank you! Lisa
