Piano plater – white – no lid

Question:
so I see lots of people on line saying they are chipped. and are selling them for 2 – 3 hundred dollars. With the chips? Is this normal? Nancy

Answer: Nancy

chips aren’t normal, but some pieces are a bit more delicate than others. lifting the lid off and on this piece, plus the legs, make it an easily damaged item. any item is worth what someone else will pay for it….

Water cooler stand

Question:
Attached is a "water cooler" I believe, that I recently acquired at a family auction. I’d like to know it’s age and value, as well as anything more you can offer. If it was manufactured with a lid, that is gone. The only marking is on the bottom Red Wing Union Stoneware Co Red Wing Minn. It seems to be in great condition, though it leaks around the spigot (washer is dried)and the inside the bottom is water mineral residue. I would hesitate to try cleaning that until I know more. I greatly appreciate any history you can provide. Thank you! Kathy

Answer: Hi Kathy

we have one with a partial paper label, it held Radium water. the glaze would make it from around 1930, a brushed ware glaze, usually used on art pottery. fairly uncommon item, there are a few around, value around 250.00. thanks, steve n rose

Brushed ware pot with flower decorations

Question:
Hi – I recently found a pair of these. Someone suggested RW Brushware, and I found this site after the Red Wing book in my local library was no help. If so, is the motif roses? Each is 5" tall, 5.5" in diameter at the rim, and 3.5" in diameter at the base. I’ve attached a photo of the front. Here are direct links to photos of the inside and bottom, which I’ve posted to my Photobucket account: Front: http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q196/Nixxxed/100_1924.jpg Inside: http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q196/Nixxxed/100_1925.jpg Bottom: http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q196/Nixxxed/100_1926.jpg Thanks for sharing your expertise. If you need any more information or more pictures, please feel free to let me know. Chuck

Answer: Hi Chuck

I don’t think this is a Red Wing shape, there were a few other companies, western, RRP, they may be the maker. still nice shapes, thanks, steve n rose

Question:
Hi, I am wondering what the number stands for on the bottom. I have a vase #754 it is green with 2 handles, but when I look it up by the number I only find a totally different vase in blue. So is the number a year and not a style. What is the meaning of the number? Heath

Answer: Hi Heath

it is shape 754, only this one is from around 1961. a few shape numbers were reused thru the years, so it can be a bit confusing. Value is around 30.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose

Red Wing “Lion Vase” Lamp shape 164

Question:
It was suggested to me that this might be a Redwing lamp. There seems to be a 3 digit number on the bottom maybe 850 or 860. It looks like a lion stalking through grasses. It is a yellow crackle type glaze with a white body. Any help with ID would be appreciated. Thanks!! Ann Marie

Answer: Hi Ann Marie

it is a red wing lamp, this is shape 164 in vase form. there are two sizes, one around 7", and the other 10" we call it the "lion" vase. sometimes the lamp numbers aren’t the same as a vase number. early shape, from around 1930 or so. Value is around 160.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose
