Deer Lobby Jar with note

Question:
I have a red wing crock about 5GL embossed with a woodland scene and a stag and a doe. under the deer looks like a masonic symbol It has a note inside that says it was once owned by mike holm MN longest serving sec. of state . I looked him up and he was a shriner I think it was a presention peice to him, but not sure. need more info if you could help . thanks gary gehrke cass lake MN

Answer: Hi Gary

A lot of these lobby/sand jars were used in commercial places of business. There is a circle mark under the deer, but that is from where a spigot hole was on some coolers done by another company. It could have belonged to him, but I don’t think it’s a masonic symbol. still a nice item, if bottom marked, value is 350.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose

Light blue vase with raised flower design

Question:
Hi; I found this piece and thought it may be early Red wing. There are no marks and the clay seems to be less polished. Can you tell by the pictures? I have more photos but was limited to one here. Trish

Red Wing Brushed ware vase

Question:
Hello! Would you kindly let me know about the pictured brushstroke vase? It is about 10 inches high, maybe a fraction less. I know the vase has been among my family’s things for a long time, and I’ve always loved it. I’m not sure it’s from the 1930s or is part of the later pots. The stamp on the bottom is "Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. Red Wing, Minn." within a circle. Let me know if you want to see other images. I have both sides, interior (glazed) and the bottom stamp. The "Union" in the stamp is sort of jumbled, as though the word was bumped after it was stamped but before it was set. Thanks very much! Sue

Answer: Hi Sue

this is indeed an older pot, from the brushedware line, circa 1930. Value is around 90.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose
