Hamm’s bank

Question:
I have had a Hamm’s bank since I was a teenage. I have been thinking of selling it however, I don’t know what it is worth. In checking on the internet I have seen banks that are similar to the one that I have with the exception of the label. I don’t know if this is important or not. Harlow

Answr: Hi Harlow

the label does seem a bit odd, I will do some more checking. thanks steve n rose

Brown Vase

Question:
I bought this piece about 10 years ago at an old 100+ estate sale. They were hesitant to sell me the piece because they thought it might be a burial urn. It looks like it could be a flower vase, but it definitely has the glaze to me to look like Redwing. Any ideas? I would like to know if it is and what the worth is. It stands about 8 1/2" H x 4 1/2 W. If you could give me info on the cheese mold(?) in the background it would also be helpful. Thank you. Mel

Answer: Hi Mel

it looks to be a molded piece, but it’s not a Red Wing shape. I’m not sure who made this one. thanks, steve n rose

Red Wing Bowl 562, Figurine 563, and Candlesticks 622

Question:
Please confirm if these items are Red Wing or Rumrill. I would like to know the age and value. Items: Bowl, number 562 Figurine, number 563 Candle Stick Holders, number 622 regarding the Candle holders…in one of your links you had identified the holders by the "Red Wing Mark"… none of these items have a "Red Wing Mark." http://www.redwingcollectors.org/content/view/5239/116/

Mike

Answer: Hi Mike

these are both RumRill designs, made by RedWing. They were made around 1938/39. There may just be the number, no makers mark on them, but they are the real item. Value for both is about 350.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose

Red Wing art deco ashtray, shape 1586

Question:
May I please get an approximate value of the Red Wing item I have attached a picture for. In excellent condition; no cracks, chips, etc. You can see the markings clearly by the picture. I believe this to be an ash tray. Thank you. Kathy

Answer: Hi Kathy

I can’t think of the number, right off my head, but this does date to the fifties, kind of late for art deco, but I do agree, it does have that style. Value for this one is around 65.00 or so, it doesn’t show up very often. thanks, steve n rose

Vase Marked “4144″ matte black glaze

Question:
This object is classically inspired vase or a strawberry pot. It has a matte glaze inside and out that is blue with darker speckles. It is 9" tall and 6" in largest diameter. It has no obvious makers marks on it, though I believe I have detected a ’4144′ and perhaps ‘RL’ scratched faintly into the bottom. This vase is heavy and appears to be made of stoneware. It has one small chip on the rim. I’m grasping at straws to identify this vase. I’m no expert but it looks a bit like a vase attributed to Waco (KY) pottery. Another online site suggests it might be a Roadside Craftsmen (NY) product. In viewing some other Red Wing vases, the blue glaze and fluting appeared similar to them. Moreover, my aunt, who owned this vase, had relatives who lived in Red Wing. Any insight is appreciated! Thanks for your time. John

Answer: Hi John

it is a strawberry pot/vase, but It’s not done by Red Wing. It does look to be factory done, not your average hobby shop item. Most Waco items I know of are marked as such. I’m not sure who did this. Sorry we can;t be of more help. thanks, steve n rose
