Violin Planters

Question:
Hi, I am curious to see if you might have some information on a set of wall hangings that my Grandmother has. They are two violins that she has hanging on the wall that she has had for a long time. She had picked them up at a garage sale many years ago. They both have "Red Wing USA #907" written on them. I think they might be some kind of planter the way they have sort of a pocket in them. I don’t have any photos of them now but I would easily be able to take some good digital photos if it would help. I am looking to possibly find a date and value of the pieces and any other kind of information you might have on them. Thanks for reading

Answer: They are indeed wallpockets, or planters. They date from the early 60′s. They have a value of around 80.00 each. thanks, steve n rose

Red Wing 505 and 1348

Question:
I actually have 2 pieces I’d love to know about. The first is a vase, measuring 7 1/2" tall, green outside and pink inside, about 5" wide and marked 505, Red Wing USA. The mark was impossible to photo – very thickly covered with glaze. It has some crazing, mainly inside, but no chips or cracks. The 2nd is a low planter, gray outside and bright pink inside. It measures 12" x 8" x 2". This piece has a few usage scratches inside, and one small chip visible from the top. It is marked Red Wing USA 1348. I am including links to that one’s photos as it looks like I can only upload one here on your form. http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h284/miragenet/rwbowl.jpg http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h284/miragenet/rwbowlchip.jpg http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h284/miragenet/rwplantermark.jpg Thanks so much for any information you can give me. Madeline

Elk in Forest Brushware Sand Jar

Question:
I have a A REDWING ‘ELK IN FOREST’ BRUSHWARE SAND JAR with embossed pattern. I see this on auction sites, but mine is multi color. All the ones I see are one flat color. Does that make it more valuable? I’m seeing the one color go for 3-5 hundred. Thank you! Valerie

Answer: Hi Valerie, Your’s could be made by someone other than Red Wing. RRP out of Ohio, made the same shape. They used some different glaze combinations. Red Wing’s are green, tan, and I have seen one in antique ivory. If it’s not bottom marked, it’s probably not Red Wing. The value is about half of what a true Red Wing lobby jar brings. thanks, steve n rose
