2 &3 Gallon salt glaze

Question:
Just before Christmas, we attended a local auction which had several pieces of stoneware listed. Most of it was generic "stuff" but a three gallon salt-glaze piece with a drop eight caught our attention and our final bid. Although unmarked, I do think it is a "Red Wing" piece. The two gallon it is pictured next to is a bottom marked Minnesota Stoneware. I don’t know a lot about salt-glaze, but to my untrained eye, the glaze and the cobalt of both crocks are the same. The handles look "right"…will send a picture of one in a separate post since I can only post one pic. now. What do you think?

Albany Slip Mini Jug

Question:
Hi–How sure can I be that this is a miniature Red Wing jug? It is not marked on the bottom. If you think it’s Red Wing, what would you estimate the value to be? Thanks for your help in advance.

6 GALLON CHURN

Question:
Greetings Al, I would like a minute of your time and knowledge. I have come across this 6 GL S/G Churn and would like any and all info you could provide. The Cobalt is bright and bold which you can see in the pictures, has some condition issues around the bottom which appears something as eaten away the glaze. The handles don’t look like any S/G I have or am familiar with, they are really molded into the sides, kind of flat and rounded. Just doing my homework before we go any further. As always I thank you in advance for your time. -Paul

BLUE BAN SPONGE JAR

Question:
Thought this was a mid 1900′s piece of Red Wing stoneware due to the backstamp on the bottom–now I’m not so sure. It is covered all over with deep cobalt blue sponging, as well as two vertical cobalt bands near the top and bottom of the crock. The lid is sponged as well, with a petal design embossed around the raised top knob, and two cobalt blue bands at the outer edge. The underside of the lid is impressed with the initials J.F.S. This crock measures 9 inches high with the lid, 7 1/2 inches high without the lid, and measures 6 inches in diameter at the top. The bottom is ink stamped with a dark blue circular stamp that reads: RED WING STONEWARE CO., RED WING, MN around the outer edge of the circle, and it has the "Wing" in the center of the circle.

BRUSHWARE VASE

Question:
I have a piece a picked up at a yard sale a few years ago. I believe it is a large vase. It is dull not shiny. It is green with gold and has leaves. It is not a flat design. There are indentations. It is about 11 inches tall. The opening is about 4 inches across. The bottom has an oval mark that Reads Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. Red Wing Minn. It is a little rough on the bottom edge like there is a little ding on the edge in one spot. Can you tell me anything about this?

Answer: This is Red Wing brushware, circa 1931. It is shape #137, this being the largest of three sizes. The glaze looks to be dark green. The ding may hurt it a little, but it should have a value of 120.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose
