Red Wing Glass Bottle

Question:
I found a bottle that is 6 inches tall and almost 2 inches in diameter. The words "RED WING" are embossed in an arc where the bottle starts to taper up to the neck. It is a pop off cap. There is a significant pontil scar on the bottom with two seams running the height of the bottle. It looks hand blown as there are multiple bubbles in the glass. Im in Fargo, ND on a construction project digging in the area where the city had their first landfill. The last time the area was dug up was in the mid 1940′s so whatever is in the ground predates that. I found a Red Wing advertising jug, for Three Orphans Saloon, in the soil near the bottle as well. Carl

Answer: Carl,  Most likely grape juice came in the bottle. I have seen Red Wing juice advertisements in magazines. The bottle has nothing to do with the Red Wing Stoneware Company. Jeff
