Bob White China – poisonous

Question:
We are having an estate tag sale. We have a set of Red Wing Bob White China. The appraiser told us a weird story that we can only sell it for display because the dishes were taken off the market and are considered poisonous. We doubt this as these dishes have been in the family for years and no one died from them. He was dead serious. He said any food item with lactose in it activates the glaze and the poison. Do you know of this? THank you Cathy

Red Wing Rose history and markings

Question:
I was going through the attic recently & came across a box of Red Wing Rose dinnerware that had been my mothers. I remember her saying that it was "collectible"; so, I brought it downstairs & was washing it. In so doing I noticed that there were different markings on the backs of the different pieces. Some had a red wing with a number (these seemed to be older as the wing was pale pinkish), some said Red Wing Dinnerware/Ovenproof in black printing, and some only said Red Wing etched into the pottery (no color). I was curious to know what the difference in the various pieces was. It would seem that it was actually a collection and not just a purchased set of dinnerware. There are serving pieces along with the "place setting" pieces. I would really appreciate any information that you might be able to pass along. I am fascinated with this discovery! Thank you June

Red Wing Provincial Ware 22

Question:
A piece of Red wing came into my possession last week via an old friend. It looks like a small baking dish, 5" diameter and approx 2-3/4" high with a handle and pouring spout. It is brown glaze inside as is the lid and the outside of the pot is yellowish. It says on the side Red wing, provincial Ware 22. that same number is on the inside of the lid. There are no cracks or chips. The handle and outside rim are discolored probably from use. what can you tell me about it and how can I clean it? Thanks so very much. Mary in Maryland
