Question:
I would like to know if the enclosed pics of the pot with lid is a Redwing, the red flowers look handpainted, the diameter is 7inches,also there is a hairline crack in the lid, also what would the value be,thanks Tamra Distad
Answer: Yes, this is a Red Wing item but it is not a cookie jar. A July 1942 brochure calls this a "Munch Jar". The brochure also shows a taller, narrower cookie jar as well as an 11"salad bowl. The brochure is titled "Hand Painted Pottery" and includes these three items in three different styles: Incised Peasant, Fruit and Rose. All three pieces in all three styles were available in three colors: Brown, Green and White.
This group of pieces isn’t dinnerware so I’m not familiar with current values. I’d estimate your munch jar to be worth around $30-40 in excellent condition. The crack will reduce the value.
