Red Wing Brush Ware Vase

Question:
What can you tell me about this vase? It is ink marked on the bottom Redwing Union Stoneware. It has a shiny pale – lime green glaze on the inside. A rough exterior with a bird motif. Age? Value? I am a collector but usually can not afford to much. This was my first Redwing, I paid $40 plus buyers premium. Thanks for taking your expert time to help, Paul

Answer: Hi Paul, this is shape 144, from the Brushed Ware line circa 1931. You didn’t mention a size, this came in 3 heights. 8, 10, and 12". We call it the Heron or stork vase. The glaze is light green. Value is around 75-125, with the largest being the highest value. thanks, steve n rose

Red Wing Vase #762

Question:
Hello, I have a vase marked Red Wing 762 on bottom. It is about 11 inches tall. The vase has several defects that appear to be factory flaws. My question’s are, might this piece be one after the Rum Rill when Red Wing was trying there own glazes? Would you know an approximate value? Are defects a problem in piece?

Answer: the 762 is a shape redone in 1961, kind of an urn shape with handles. This shape was done in several different glazes. Yours maybe done in Bronze crackle, it did some unusual glaze marks. Value is around 35.00 or so, defects or not. thanks, steve n rose
