mug Charles murphy?

Question:
Please don’t think I’m crazy for asking if you think this mug could possibly be Red Wing. The figure of the woman just reminded me of a piece I saw by Charles Murphy. It is just such a stunning mug, I have a hard time believing it’s not special

Answer: it does have a very deco modern look. Murphy did do several types of Female as well as ethnic figures. can’t say who did it, but it is an intriguing piece. wish I could give you a definate maker, but I can’t. thanks, steve n rose

Red Wing 436

Question:
Hi It is Sam the 11 year old Red Wing Collector! I bought a Red Wing 436 Maple Leaf Dish at a garage sale for $5. The cool thing is though that it is a sample piece with numbers written on the bottom the piece (under the glaze). The problem though is that is has 2 small chips and 1 small piece reglued in. Is it worth more than $5? Sam

Answer: Hi Sam, good to see you are out and about, the hunt is always the most fun. think you did OK, as you know damage hurts, but it being a sample piece I think it would be worth at least 25-40. thanks, steve n rose

Red Wing Vase 667

Question:
I have a vase with the following marks on the botton: "Red Wing" "USA" "667". It is approx 11" tall, appears to be an art deco design, and the color is purple, grape, berry or something in that color family. I do not have a picture to include, but when you look at it from the front it is somewhat reminiscent of a woman’e corset, in that it has a ‘waist’ located in the lower third of the vase. The vase has vertical indentations – (which remind me of the boning used in corsets) – which rise from the base & continue up [widening as they reach the top]. These same indentations appear on both the front and back of the vase. It is not round, square or triangular in its shape. That narrow ‘waist’ is 3 and a half inches up from the 4" wide base & then above this waist the vase flares out & upward to the brim where it measures approx 6" wide. More than that I can’t offer, but would be delighted if you can give me some info on this. With many thanks for your time and effort.

Answer: Thanks for the very descriptive description!!! This vase belongs to the "doric" line, circa 1960. The glaze would be amethyst. Value is around 55.00. thanks, steve n rose
