Red WIng Vases: 1632, M1528, 416

Question:
We have three Red Wing vases, two are pink with gray/black flecks and the other is green with tan/gray flecks. One pink one is stamped #416 and the other is stamped #1632. The green one is stamped M1528. I’m attaching a photo of all three side by side. The gladiola vase is about 12" and the spiral shaped vase is about 8" high. The green vase is about 9" and has a hairline crack on the inside that extends about a third or so of the way down inside and has some small chipping that I tried to catch in the photo. We are wondering what their values are. Thank you.

Answer: Thanks for the pic. these are from the mid fifties, fleck zephyr pink, and fleck green. The glad vase is worth around 65, the swirl 50.00, and the green damaged one maybe 15. thanks, steve n rose

Rumrill vase 569

Question:
I have a Rum Rill vase #569. It is ivory (yellowish white) with brown inside. It is not in pristine condition (has a small chip out of base and a tiny speck out of head of one of the nudes)… I also can see patches of blue beneath the ivory exterior and am suspicious if someone painted over a blue vase. Would it have any value in it’s current condition? If it has been painted over, what is the best method of removing the paint (matte finish)? Sorry, don’t have a picture available but on Ask Wally & Paul’s site they indicate the white vase as valued at from $600-$700 (I assume pristine condition) and at least 3 times that value for dark blue…. Carol

Answer: Hi Carol, they were done in a few different glazes, the brown inside is throwing me off a bit, the only glaze with brown inside is suntan, a yellow. You can try and put a small amount of stripper on it, it won’;t hurt the pottery at all, and see if it has been painted or not. With the damage, I would value it around 350.00 or so, in the current market. thanks, steve n rose
