Livestock Salt Cup
Question:
I have a Livestock Salt cup and I am wondering if it may have been made by Red Wing Stoneware. The cup measures 7 1/2" wide by 5" high, is zinc glazed and is stamped in blue — Wisconsin-Minnesota Salt Cup Patent appplied for manufactured by Siren Dairy Association Inc, Siren Wisconsin. Years ago I was told that it was not Red Wing; however, recently I saw one in an antique store and it was identified as Red Wing. The owner is a Red Wing Collector and told me that shards of this cup have been found in the Red Wing Pottery dump. My question is — is this so and is this cup made by Red Wing Stoneware? Do you have an approximate idea of the value? Thank you.

Red Wing Salt Glaze
Question:
Yes, just wondering when looking at a RW salt glazed crock, regardless of size, the name for the tear-drop marks apart from the target design. I believe I have heard them refered as tobacco marks. I have seen these on the blue target crocks.

3 Gallon Salt Glaze Churn and 3 Gallon Bee Hive
Question:
Gosh… I don’t know where to start. I am an Indiana resident. My Red Wing passion began a few years ago and I have several red stamped wing crocks (even a 30 gallon). Now, however, a am interested in the making & history of Bee Sting salt glazed crocks. I have several books about Red Wing stoneware and one on Indiana potteries. So here are my questions: 1. In the attached pictures, which crocks are Red Wing? Some that I THOUGHT were Red Wing are actually depicted in a book called Indiana Stoneware by Peggy Loar 1974. 2. How can I value my whole collection for insurance purposes? 3. Where can I find more information about mid-west potteries from 1800-1900. I know the basic history behind the Western Stoneware and the Red Wing unions but I want more specific information. Thanks for any help you can offer.
