Brittany plate with hole

Question:
Hi: This is a three tier dessert tray top tier. The piece is marked Red Wing Pottery Hand Painted on the back. It has been in my family since I was a child, I remember there also being dinner plates and dessert plates with it at one time but have not found any. The supports are silver plated and the piece has no chips. Can you help identify it? Thank you. Tom

Red Wing M1504

Question:
Hello, I recently found this piece of Redwing Art Pottery and need a little more information about it. It is marked on the bottom M /504 or M 1504, I can’t tell for sure. It is about 5" tall and 7 3/4" in diameter. Does it have a line name? How old is it? And about what is it worth? Thanks in advance, Gail Kramer

Answer: Hi Gail, it doesn’t belong to any particular line, but there are candleholders that go with it. It’s from the mid fifties, designed by Charles Murphy. The glaze is called fleck Green. Value around 35.00. thanks, steve n rose

Minnesota Stoneware Crock

Question:
I found an old crock in my folks basement. It says MINNESOTA STONEWARE CO. RED WING, MINN on the bottom. It is a light brown, 8 1/2 in H x 7 3/4 in in diameter. It is not perfectly round at the top. There is no decoration on it & has a 3/4 in lip at the top & is dark brown inside. I took pictures to send you but can’t figure out how to do it. I’ll ask a neighbor and try again later. Thank you so much for your input.

Red Wing Ashtray

Question:
I found this ashtray while going thru my mom’s things. It says Red Wing Potteries usa on the back. After doing a little research, I found it listed on Ebay for 25.00. I know the chip drops the value, but I have a couple questions for you: 1. How old is it? 2. Is this a common piece? 3. Is 25.00 an accurate value? and is it worthless with the chip? 4. Would I devalue it even more if I found a matching shade of nail polish to camouflage it? Thank you Kristie Stanek

Answer: Hi Kristie, these are from the early fifties, and fairly common, unless it’s in an odd color. A chip is a chip, even covered up. I would say that’s a fair value. thanks, steve n rose
