Question:
I acquired this piece at an auction and I was not aware of the Redwing brand until people started telling me about it. Just out of curiousity I was just wondering what the piece was worth if any. Attached is a picture. It is a piece that you have to see in order to know what it is. It is a piece that is hard to describe! The number on the bottom says Redwing USA M 1487. Please contact me with any questions! Thanks!

Red Wing 1041

Question:
Hi ~ my husband came home from auction with this awesome dish. I don’t know if it is a serving platter or a casserole dish. It is rectangular in shape. It is aqua in color (more green than blue), it measures 12" from left to right and 10" from front to back. The left and right handles have what look to be snow flakes with arrows or it could be flowers with leaves. The bottom is a mustard yellow color. The entire piece is very glossy. The back is incised with 1041, Red Wing, USA. Thank you, Debbi

Answer: Hi Debbi, your console bowl is from around 1940. There were several different bowl shapes made about the same time. Value is around 20.00. thanks, steve n rose

Friar Tuck Cookie Jar

Question:
Sr. friend closing home of 60+ years, lots of nice older items. One is a RedWing cookie jar? in the shape of a rotund monk…perfect condtion. It’s about 10.5" tall, creamy yellow with light brown trim: cap, rosary, rope belt. It has a banner around the lower right side that says ‘THOU SHALT NOT STEAL’. The RedWing name and an emblem is on the bottom, centered. Can you help me get the best price for my friend? Estate sale or Ebay or local net sale or your newsletter? The item is in Santa Maria, CA, not far north of Santa Barbara. Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to provide. ‘yard sale’s planned for weekend after Labor Day, but don’t HAVE to sell cheap. OH! Cookie jar with sponging

Question:
I picked up a cookie jar at a garage sale just because I liked the way it looked. I started to research it on the internet and then the library when I thought it might be Red Wing. It is 8" tall with a 6" width at the top and bottom. The middle expands to about an 8" width. It has a wide band around the middle with a spongeware design but this design is not on the lid. It has 5 rings above and below the band. It has a small handle on each side near the top which is also decorated. It is a unmarked piece so I was hopeing you could help me authenticate it and possibly date it. Thanks, Sue

Saffron Spongeware Mixing Bowl with advertising

Question:
I have a red wing saffron spongeware bowl measureing 7 5/8" in diameter. The Red Wing Stoneware book by DePasquale, Peck and Peterson with 2006 updated prices lists this bowl, page 101, (the center bowl as to pattern, but mine is a yellow-saffron color as is the top bowl on that same pageas pricing from $125-175.00 I am assuming that this is without advertising. My bowl has "IT PAYS TO MIX WITH WENBERG’S GROCERY SHERBURN, – MINN." on the inside in the center of the bowl. My question is this, How much does advertising add to the value of a bowl? Does it matter that it is just advertising or does it make a difference as to which business is advertised. I know that some businesses, such as Lampberts Lumber did extensive advertising with Red Wing pieces so perhaps an item that had fewer advertising pieces made for that particular advertiser is worth more than one who had a prolific amount of pieces. Is there anywhere I can go to find out? Thanks so much for your help. Sincerely, Vicki Olson, Many Little Things, Osseo, Wi Sorry, I don’t have a pic yet, as just got the bowl in today. manylittl@aol.com
