Question:
I picked up a cookie jar at a garage sale just because I liked the way it looked. I started to research it on the internet and then the library when I thought it might be Red Wing. It is 8" tall with a 6" width at the top and bottom. The middle expands to about an 8" width. It has a wide band around the middle with a spongeware design but this design is not on the lid. It has 5 rings above and below the band. It has a small handle on each side near the top which is also decorated. It is a unmarked piece so I was hopeing you could help me authenticate it and possibly date it. Thanks, Sue

Answer: It does not seem to be a red wing cookie jar. Although the sponging is quite nice. We have posted this on the stie to see if any of our member might be able to provide our office with information to executivedirector@redwingcollectors.org.
