Question:
Greetings, Thanks for the help with the ID on the plain white Tex Tweed Anniversary Platter a few weeks ago. I just dug out another piece of Red Wing that I also need help with. I could not find an example of it anywhere but I did find a site that claims that this shape was attributed to Belle Kogan. It is a leaf shaped bowl or dish – Approx. 13-1/2” long X 6-1/2” wide. It has a pinkish salmon interior and a pale blue / grey underside. Marked on the bottom – RED WING, USA 1251. I was wondering if there was a name, date and perhaps an estimate of value for this piece. It is clean with no chips, cracks or repairs but the inside has some overall crazing and there is a 2-1/2” long X 1-1/2” long part on the inside that goes up the side that looks like a stain, but it appears more like it is inside the finish and not a stain that will wash off. Many thanks. Mercedes
Answer: Hi Mercedes, It could be a Kogan piece, hard to say. It’s from around 1946, and I know Murphy left in 1947 for a few years, the glaze appears to be luster pink. Value is around 20.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose

Hello, My name is Rick Haggart. I was wondering if these Red Wing French Onion Soup Bowls are collectible. My Grandmother bought them quite a long time ago and I somehow inherited them. Thank you, Rick Haggart
Hello. I have a piece of Redwing Pottery with the Driftwood design on it. It is a rectangular dish with a slanted base. We do not know when it was made, what it is called, what it was made for. It’s dimensions are 10 1/2 inches long by 7 inches wide. Even though it has a rectangular form, it’s outside line is indented on each end and side, plus it has rounded corners. It’s a very nice dish. The sloped style makes it hard to use as a serving piece, anything slick or slippery will not stay on. Could you give me an idea what it’s name and use is, and possibly it’s value? Thank you so much! Jennifer Zelhart P.S. It was found at a thrift store and purchased for $0.50.
Question:
I haven’t ever seen a Red Wing pot that was irregular. This old crock has two large dents in the clay. The bottom has Minnesota Stoneware Co Red Wing Minn hand written around the base. It is obviously damaged but I thought that it was a very unique piece with the flaws and purchased at an auction in Zumbrota MN for $15. Would this pot been sold this way originally or would it have gone home with one of the employees for free because of the flaws? Is it worth anything? Thanks for your time, Susie
