Syrup Jug, 2 gallon

Question:
I think I have a Red Wing 2 gallon Pitcher Lip Syrup/Molasses Jug, but it’s not marked and none of the local collectors have ever seen one. Can you give your opinion? I can send more pictures if needed. If it is RW, is it a desireable jug? Thanks for your help. Bruce

Red Wing 436 vase

Question:
Howdy, I recived a Red wing vase for my birthday. It has a pale yellow exterior and an opaque peach interior. It’s about 9" high with a 3" base and marked Red Wing 436. Any thoughts on age and value?

hello

there are two different shapes with the 436 number, but neither match your description. A pic would work wonders for me. thanks, steve n rose

This guy called me and we talked about it on the phone. It sounds like the Kogan Prizmatique line. He is going to try and get a picture with one of his friends. He live in Minneapolis so I am going to try and hook up with him next week when I am there for Otto Bang’s funeral.

got your pic, thank you. the vase is from 1956, I think designed by Murphy. Value is around 40.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose

Brushed Ware with oak leaves and acorns

Question:
My mother passed away and I found a red wing pottery vase/planter in her belongings. It has oak leaves and acorns on it and is beige and green in color. The stamp is a blue circle and I can’t make out all of the writing on it. I can make out red wing but that is about it. Does anyone have any idea what the stamp might say or if it is worth anything? Thank you Ann.

Answer: Hi Ann, The stamp most likely says red wing union stoneware, this is from the early 30′s, part of a line of Brushed Ware. It’s shape #150. Value is around 70.00 or so in good condition. thanks, steve n rose

Pink Piano Planter

Question:
I have a stamped piece of Red Wing Pottery. I believe it is a cookie jar. It is a pink grand piano. The top of the piano comes off. It is about 4" high and about 12" at its widest point. It is in excellcent condition with no grazing or cracking of the glaze. I do not know what kind of glaze is on it but it is shiny. This piece was acquired by my aunt around 1935 to 1940 in South Dakota. Not sure on time frame. I did take it to an amature appraiser. They thought it might be a rarer piece because they had not seen it before but gave me your information so I could contact you. I would like to know the approximate age and value of the piece. I would be happy to provide a photo of this piece if you could provide me with a mailing address. I’m sorry I don’t know how to include a photo with this e-mail. Thank you in advance for any information you might be able to provide. Lois Brown

Answer: Hi Lois, It is a nice item, but it’s actually a planter. It was designed in the mid fifties, and is shape #M1525. The glaze is probably fleck zephyr pink, and they have a value of 120.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose

2 gallon crock, no red wing just the oval

Question:
Hi, I have the chance to purchase a 2 gallon crock that is in good condition, no cracks or chips. It has the number 2 and then below it the oval mark but no red wing. Is this worth more than the regular markings and harder to find or not as valuable? What would be a fair price to purchase this crock for? Thanks, Ken
