Question:
I have a stamped piece of Red Wing Pottery. I believe it is a cookie jar. It is a pink grand piano. The top of the piano comes off. It is about 4" high and about 12" at its widest point. It is in excellcent condition with no grazing or cracking of the glaze. I do not know what kind of glaze is on it but it is shiny. This piece was acquired by my aunt around 1935 to 1940 in South Dakota. Not sure on time frame. I did take it to an amature appraiser. They thought it might be a rarer piece because they had not seen it before but gave me your information so I could contact you. I would like to know the approximate age and value of the piece. I would be happy to provide a photo of this piece if you could provide me with a mailing address. I’m sorry I don’t know how to include a photo with this e-mail. Thank you in advance for any information you might be able to provide. Lois Brown

Answer: Hi Lois, It is a nice item, but it’s actually a planter. It was designed in the mid fifties, and is shape #M1525. The glaze is probably fleck zephyr pink, and they have a value of 120.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose
